Achappam is a type of deep-fried rose cookie made with rice flour that is very delicate yet lightly crunchy & delicious. A mixture of wheat flour, eggs, sugar and coconut milk makes the batter. It gets its interesting shape with the help of an ‘achu’ which are specially designed irons moulds.

Achappam is deep fried rose cookie and is made with rice flour. It is a signature Syrian Christian food that is believed to come from the influence of the Dutch. In Kerala, on special days such as Christmas and marriage ceremonies, it is an important snack.
